It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and after that the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
