The Evolution of a Movement is often characterized by specific steps.

1. The Big Idea

A dominant personality or leaders introduce a revolutionary approach offering a solution for disconnected individuals.

So here we are. Preparations are underway to storm the compound down in Brisbane. Pressure is mounting. Smoke is rising from the out-houses. An isolated player, vulnerable, shivering, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET written on his body as a statement, has emerged from the field and is being led away with discretion to a different team in county cricket.

Remember the start, when optimism reigned? The initial phase, of uninhibited aggression.

2. Initial Adoration

Movement founders guarantee a reboot, optimism ahead, love, success together united in belief in the philosophy.

How did it feel initially? Just men on a balcony basking in glory. Ink. Muscles. Focus. Peak performance vibes. Of course, The team insist it’s not a real term, amusingly as it’s denied, what exactly did I just watch?

But we know its essence. It’s the batsman playing a shot so depraved it has to be pixelated. 3. Expansion Period

Building period. Unity enforced by rote learning of mantras. These beliefs can appear contradictory as a loyalty check.

Does anyone else feel? The backlash, the anger, the feeling of letdown following the initial loss seems too strong, unwarranted. England batted badly during the match, as is typical there. Recent events lately is just as interesting. Criticism of the approach has now become the cult. Online outrage is widespread, disappointed commentators, pictures of upset travelling fans cheated out of three days of cricket, like a room full of investors demanding recourse.

Meanwhile, there is the broader context of the host’s complex more culturally hard-wired exasperation with the aggressive tourists, out there saying, your cherished traditions and have developed as part of your identity from the opposition, it’s just a joke ultimately.

And this is the real point. It’s all cults. The style was a trend as the game has its own culture. In fact, the team has long been exclusive, a clique, a private event, an insular community with a long history of ceremonial past defining it. It has long been a place where power and access are hoarded. It’s the British pastime of the nation, the pioneering brand. And notably, the nation has its own culture, a structure of hidden ranks, a monarchy still exists.

The team have been isolated in this environment from a young age. Attempting to break free, to create a less brutal environment, they are mirroring their upbringing, building another enclosure, a closed circle, however with 15 cool guys and a mentor encouraging individuality if you fit the mold.
